The Perfect Little Disney Beach Getaway
A Little Bit About the Resort
Just over an hour and a half away from Walt Disney World, Disney's Vero Beach Resort is the perfect place for any Disney fan. The resort is chalked full of hidden mickey's, Disney-themed activities, and amazing ocean views.
You are welcomed home as soon as you step foot into the resort. From the scent of the lobby to the adorable decor, the lobby starts your vacation on the right foot.
Cast members are eager to greet you and help make your vacation at Vero Beach one to remember.
At the resort, you will find a variety of rooms. From a standard hotel room to a 3-bedroom cottage, there is something for all types of families. With any of the villas, you even have a fully equipped kitchen. Talk about a great way to save money on food!
If you are not staying in a villa, there is both a sit-down restaurant and a quick-service dining option. On the second floor, you will find a gorgeous bar with snacks, drinks, and a breathtaking ocean view.
Throughout the day, there are a large variety of events at the resort. From pool slide competitions to archery to a campfire singalong, there are options for the whole family. But don't worry there is more about that to come!
The Lobby
Disney's Vero Beach Resort's lobby is one of my favorite Disney Resort lobbies. The decor feels so homey. The cast members at the front desk are always so excited to greet you and the smell, well let's just say I wish I could permanently smell that scent. It is to die for.
We stayed during Halloween weekend. That week, there were exquisitely decorated pumpkins displayed in the lobby. Various cast members at the resort created some masterpieces. As a guest, we were able to vote on our favorite ones. These were some of the best pumpkins I had ever seen!
The Room
During our stay, we were in an Inn Room with a standard view. The Inn room has two queen beds, a balcony, a full bathroom, and a kitchenette equipped with a mini fridge and coffee maker.
The room was located in the main building and was on the second floor. It was wonderful to be able to walk into the front door, go right up the steps (we aren't elevator fans), and be right in your room.
With the standard view, your balcony will most likely have a view of the front of the resort or the parking lot. If you plan to stay longer, I recommend an ocean view.
Because we had a fridge, we were able to save our leftovers in the fridge and reheat them later. Sounds like a small thing, but is a nice little touch to have. The simplicity of it all made it the perfect little room.
One of our favorite things at Disney resorts is renting Disney DVDs. There is something so relaxing about huddling under your blankets, snacking on Disney candy, and watching old Disney classics. During this trip, we watched Tron and Lilo and Stitch 2. The simplicity of it all made it the perfect little room.
Activities at the Resort
During your stay at Disney's Vero Beach Resort, there will be a myriad of opportunities for the whole family to have fun! Each week, there is a schedule put out with a variety of crafts, games, and experiences. There is plenty to do for everyone.
Let's start at the pool.
Throughout the day, the cast members put on different events like hula hooping competitions, poolside dance parties, and movies under the stars. The best part of all of these things is the cast members. They are willing to be a little silly to get the party going.
One of the most unique competitions was the pool slide race. Each participant was timed on how long it took them to get to the bottom of the slide. Young and old slid down that slide and each swimmer cheered them on! It was quite a joy to watch and be a part of.
On the other side of the slide, there is a little pirate ship kiddie pool and a putt-putt course. Since we don't have any kids of our own, we skipped the pirate ship and headed straight to the putt-putt! The theme of the course is Peter Pan. You can see little hints from the film throughout the course.
If you are looking to be a little bit more adventurous, there are some other fun activities you can sign up for at Eb and Flo's Rentals (rental desk by the pool). In the morning, there is yoga, surfing lessons, kayaking, and even archery. When we stay again, I want to do the kayaking tour and archery.
Right across the street, Disney's Vero Beach Resort has some additional property with a ton of things to do. The coolest part of it all is that they have an underground tunnel to get there. We were curious, so naturally, we had to go check it out for ourselves.
As soon as you make it through the tunnel, you will find a gorgeous view of the pond, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a biking trail. Around the corner, there are also grills, soccer fields, archery, and even horseshoes (a personal favorite). What's not to love?
TIP: If you need to rent any equipment, make sure to head to the front desk of the lobby. There are no cast members to help you once you get to the other side of the street.
Campfire Sing-a-long
I know what you're thinking. "Campfire sing-a-long is an activity. Why is this not in the activity section?" Well, the campfire sing-a-long is so much of a must-do item that I had to make sure it had its own title.
Each night, cast members create a joy-filled night full of every campfire song you could think of. During the campfire, they do a wonderful job of involving the crowd. It is sure to make you laugh, sing, and dance along. After the sing-a-long you can roast marshmallows over the fire and make tasty s'mores. If you have food allergies, there are options for you too!
Restaurants
As someone with several food allergies (gluten, dairy, soy, and egg), I tend to have a little bit of anxiety when it comes to eating out at a new restaurant. Will there be any options? Can I modify this item on the menu? Will they remember all of my allergies? The list goes on.
The main restaurant at Disney's Vero Beach Resort is called Wind & Waves Grill. They blew it out of the water. They did a phenomenal job of making sure everything was safe, modifying menu options, and making sure I had something delicious to enjoy.
Each night, they posted a different dinner specials menu. The first night we were there, they had a plant-based bolognese that we both loved.
I was able to do it without the Impossible burger crumble and it was amazing. They even had dinner rolls I could eat. What a treat!
Because we had such a great experience, we decided to come back for breakfast and dinner the next day.
For breakfast, I was able to have Mickey Waffles, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit, and a warm cup of coffee with Oatly. We had a cozy little booth and thoroughly enjoyed our morning.
In addition to the Wind & Waves Grill, there is also a quick-service restaurant on the property by the pool. There are a variety of options for you to grab and go so that you can continue having fun at the resort.
On the second floor of the lobby, you will find The Green Cabin Room. Throughout the week, there are a variety of events based on various alcoholic drinks. In the morning, you can get yourself some delicious coffee or a latte. They close for a few hours in the afternoon and then open back up for drinks and small bites.
The very best part of The Green Cabin Room is the view. If you sit outside on the balcony, you will find a gorgeous ocean view. The balcony is shaded and cool and is the best little spot to sit back and relax.
The Part You've All Been Waiting For: The Beach
Disney's Vero Beach Resort is chalked full of gorgeous ocean views. It is a great place to take a walk and play in the sand. However, if you plan on going to the resort, there are a couple of things to make your experience even more enjoyable.
If you are looking to get a lounge chair on the beach, make sure to wake up early and head to the beach to reserve a chair and umbrella. If you're not an early bird, bring your own beach chairs to save the hassle.
There are large dunes at the beach with a big drop-off.
The waves can be rough or smooth. It depends on the day. Make sure to pay attention to the weather report. If nothing else, enjoy your time at the pool and hot tub.
Loggerhead turtles nest on this beach. Be aware of the marked-off areas so that you don't harm their nest.
No-see-ums can be annoying. Make sure to wear bug spray.
All in All
If you are a fan of Disney and love the beach, Disney's Vero Beach Resort is a great option for you. The resort is quaint, adorable, and cozy. There are a ton of places to cuddle up and read a good book.
If your family is the active type, there are ample options for you to do throughout the week so that you never get bored.
Just an hour and a half away from Orlando, Disney's Vero Beach Resort is the perfect place to relax after a busy trip to Walt Disney World.
